Castle Rock Real Estate Information
Situated at the foot of the Rocky Mountains, Castle Rock is named after a sizeable butte ocated north of the town. As the town seat of Douglas County, Castle Rock is in the center of a blossoming urbanization of a region thirty-five miles south of Denver and forty miles north of Colorado Springs. The I-25 that passes by the prominent rock also connects Castle Rock to both Denver and Colorado Springs. As the nineteenth most populated municipality in Colorado, Castle Rock?s population is growing past 35,000 people. Because the interstate is so ideally located, many residents have the opportunity to work in downtown Denver during the week and usually only spend about an hour on the commute daily.
Castle Rock?s youth are served by a well-developed network of public schools. Five
elementary schools and three middle schools feed the area?s two large high schools
Castle View High School and Douglas County High School not only serve Castle Rock
but also the surrounding smaller communities. The Plum Creek Center is Castle Rock?s
hub of social activities not only for its cafes and eateries but also for its selection of
stores and grocers. Rockin? the Fourth, Castle Rock Band Fest, Front Range Art
Exhibition, and Lowdown on Downtown are the area?s most noted annual events.
Until 2007, The International, a PGA tour golf tournament was held at the Castle Pines
Golf Club that is one of the best courses in the state. Red Hawk Ridge Golf Course and
Plum Creek Golf and Country Club are also located in Castle Rock and offer good
alternatives. The sprawling Pike National Forest is situated just west of Castle Rock
and is a massive park. The region is awfully popular on the weekends when many
Castle Rock families head to the forest for camping and other recreational activities.
The Douglas County Fairgrounds and Castle Rock Battlefield are also located in Castle
Rock and are attractions for residents and visitors alike. The somewhat farther
Castlewood Canyon State Park is still part of the Castle Rock area but is less
frequented compared to the area’s other facilities.
