Just a half hour outside of downtown Denver, the city of Centennial is part of Arapahoe County and is home to almost 100,000 people. As the tenth most populous city in the state, Centennial serves both as an independent urban center as well as a suburban community to downtown Denver. The business district of Denver is actually just a fifteen-minute drive north on the I-25. The Centennial Airport is actually certified as an international gateway, despite only receiving general and private aviation. Because of the customs facilities on location, the airport is one of the busiest non-commercial airfields in the nation, partly due to its ability to accept flights from outside the United States.

A number of retail centers are located in Centennial. This makes shopping especially convenient for residents of Centennial who don?t have to travel far to run errands, gather with friends and relatives, and relax. Places like Southglenn Mall, Cherry Knolls Shopping Center, and The Arapahoe Village Shopping Center are some of the most frequented gathering areas, especially during the weekends. The Park Meadows Mall in neighboring Lone Tree hosts dozens of vendors. Besides a well-appointed food court and promenade of restaurants, the mall also features large department stores like Nordstrom and Macy?s as well as some local specialty boutiques.

A number of golf courses entertain the area?s older crowd. Southglenn Golf Course, South Suburban Golf Course, and Highlands Ranch Golf Course are all quite popular.
During the afternoons and on weekends, most of Centennial?s parks and recreational areas are filled to capacity with joggers, families, picnicers, and a variety of sports teams. Cherry Knolls Park, Dekoevend Park, Arapahoe Park, Hollyy Park, Willow Creek Park, Little Dry Creek Park, Heritage Village Park, and Medema Park are among the more popular and busy parks in the area.

Due to the city?s size and sprawling borders, both the Cherry Creek Public Schools and Littleton Public Schools provide educational administration in Centennial. Primarily operated by the Cherry Creek System, students have about a dozen elementary school options as well as several middle school options. The districts allow for a limited number of geographic exceptions should students wish to attend a school in a different neighborhood.
