On the western fringe of Denver, the city of Golden is the county seat of Jefferson County and likes along Clear Creek at the foot of the Rocky Mountain?s Front Range.
Settled in 1859 during the Pike?s Peak Gold Rush and today hosts a population of almost 18,000 people. Windy Saddle Open Space Park, Beverly Heights Park, Lions Park, Alex Open Space Park, Ulysses Ball Park, Hayden Green Mountain Park, Matthews-Winters Open Space Park, Iron Springs Park, South Dinosaur Park, Red Rocks Park, and Thunder Valley Park are among the community and county parks in Golden to serve the public. For golf enthusiasts, Fossil Trace Golf Club and Rolling Hills Country Club are the two primary courses in the area.

The Golden community is also lucky to have a very heavy emphasis on education in the area. Red Rock Community College and the prestigious Colorado School of Mines are both located in the city. The School of Mines is a very selective engineering institution that brings students from across the globe to the streets of Golden. The Jefferson County School District serves Golden with three elementary schools, a middle school, and Golden High School.

The culture in Golden is something that draws interest from many people in the surrounding area as well as Golden?s own residents. The Jefferson Symphony Orchestra is based in Golden as is the Foothills Art Center. The Rocky Mountain Quilt Museum, Colorado Railroad Museum, Colorado School of Mines Geology Museum, Bradford Washburn American Mountaineering Museum, Golden History Center, Astor House Hotel Museum, and the Clear Creek History Park are also based in Golden. The Golden Fine Arts Festival, Independence Day Fireworks Show, Goldenfest, Olde Golden Christmas, and Heart & Soul Month are popular annual events that gather the Golden community together.
