Parker Real Estate Information
Tucked away off the beaten path, southeast of the city of Denver, Parker is a town of 24,000 people and is one of the most rapidly growing areas in the Denver-Aurora metropolitan area. Only developed since 1981, the last two decades have seen the area grow from just 280 people to its current size. Although Parker is small relative to most other communities in the area, it still maintains two local papers, The Park Chronicle, and the Douglas County News/Press. The many cul-de-sacs that are scattered across Parker have become part of the Parker culture. In most cases, families who live on a common cul-de-sac are especially close, adding to the already tight-knit community that Parker is known for.
Education is taken very seriously in the town. The public school system is operated by the Douglas County School District RE-1. Know throughout the state as one of the premier district, Parker is especially known for having the highest level of students in Colorado. Recently, the elementary program was ranked as the second best in the nation. In addition to five elementary schools, there are also three middle schools and two high schools in Lone Tree.
In lieu of driving all the way into Denver, many residents instead chose to make the twenty-minute drive to Lone Tree where most of their immediate shopping needs can be met. The 20 Mile Stadium Theaters are also located nearby and are most likely one of residents? favorite entertainment venues. The local parks department heavily promotes recreation. Inline hockey, flag football, volleyball, girls' and boys' basketball, kinder basketball, youth and kinder soccer, tennis, and golf are all offered to young Parker residents, both in tournament formats and formal team and leagues. The Parker Recreation Center helps to organize these initiatives and includes an aquatics center and fitness center and gym. For those who enjoy the outdoors, Bar Triple C Park Parker Regional Park and Challenger Regional Park as well as Canterberry Golf Club are wonderful, affordable, and convenient options.
